Hey guys! Hope everyone had a nice Thanksgiving and no one assaulted anyone during Holiday shopping (seriously - look up some Black Friday American videos if you don't believe me).
First off - we've gone back to some folks getting confused again about who runs this site. This is a fan site *for* Joshua Gates and his related projects, and casual updates on his cast members from those shows. Basically, this page is not run by Josh.
Anyway, here is a schedule of when "Expedition Unknown" is on Travel Channel this coming week (listed it all in EST but you can go to TravelChannel.com/schedule to check for your time zone):
Hey guys! So I am going away on another business trip this week and then immediately afterwards, I return to get married (hence me borrowing this great photo from Josh Gates' Instagram from when he was married). If you're so inclined, enjoy the story about how Josh inadvertently played match maker with the two of us in this post.
ANYWAY, here is the airing schedule this coming week for "Expedition Unknown":
Otherwise, you can also check out this previous post about some serious "Destination Truth" nostalgia that happened on "Expedition Unknown: Hunt for the Yeti" HERE
The "Expedition Unknown: Hunt for the Yeti" event on Travel Channel has received a lot of great feedback. I think the biggest part of it all is that fans of "Destination Truth" got a huge dose of nostalgia from watching it (as exemplified by this photo of Josh from a "DT" discovery he had close to 10 years ago).
Although I don't want to spoil the outcomes of these episodes, I did want to share some of the best moments:
One of the coolest moments, off the bat, was when we saw Josh Gates reunite with Tul Sherpa, who helped Josh make a huge Yeti related discovery on "DT." The pair, both a little older than when we lost saw them together on screen, hiked over to the spot where they first made their discovery, even though the landscape had changed noticeably due to earthquakes and landslides.
This moment also went hand in hand when we got to see some footage from "DT" courtesy of Syfy, which was pretty wild!
Here is another wild moment. Remember on "DT" when that Monk threw rocks at Josh and Team Truth for entering their Monastery and asking to see the supposed Yeti scalp? It's hard to forget. There was a small victory, as they were allowed to come in and see the scalp. However, they were not allowed to touch it in "DT" - just to see it in a closed case.
Fast forward to Josh on "Expedition Unknown" and we got to see that the team not only got to take it out of the case this time, but touch it AND take detailed photos!

When we got towards the end of the special event, it came time for evidence review. One of the first stops was to a familiar face for many a "DT" fan. Jim Dines, a mammalogist in Los Angeles, helped Josh try to unravel the mystery of the Yeti scalp, just as he had on many previous different "DT" investigations, which was pretty crazy!
Speaking of familiar faces, Jeffrey Meldrum was also another evidence expert on "DT" that we saw Josh visit for this "EXU" adventure. It was truly great to see how technology has progressed since the last time he helped Josh review cryptozoologic evidence.
What was your favorite moment from "Hunt for the Yeti"?
New "Expedition Unknown" episodes on Travel Channel keep on coming. The next new episode on Wednesday the 2nd at 9 p.m. EST, Plummer's Gold, is also the 9th episode to feature a "gold" theme. The new season will feature such mysteries as The Wooly Mammoth, Attila the Hun, Captain Kidd, and more! Check out a preview trailer for the new season HERE
Josh narrated the first episode of Travel Channel's "Everest Air" - I am not sure if he will be doing the whole season. The program airs again this coming Wednesday right after "Expedition Unknown"
Hey everyone. How are we liking this Yeti journey so far on "Expedition Unknown" on the Travel Channel? On the 26th, the adventure continues with another new episode on at 9 p.m. EST (with re-runs happening starting at 6 p.m. EST). You can check out the schedule specific to your timezone here.
Remember to follow Josh on Instagram at this link. I did a screenshot to sample some of the amazing shots he posts and, honestly, is a great reflection of what his life is like.
Other fun stuff you can subscribe to, as a fan? There is a list of official social media for Josh and related projects he has done in the banner of this site and in the right hand side of this site. Ever since "Expedition Unknown" has been on the air, the fans have wanted to see some "Destination Truth" cast members on the show, too. We have been granted the wish by seeing Evan Stone on the show, and soon, we should be seeing Mike Morrell on there. However, there is one particular cast member fans have been clamoring to see: the one and only Erin Ryder.
Especially with these "EXU" episodes that have been airing, the demand for Ryder on the show has increased. If you would like to see Ryder on the show, there are two things you should do. The lesser of the two is to let Josh know because Josh already would love his "DT" crew members on "EXU." The biggest factor is to NICELY tweet and comment on official Travel Channel social media pages that we would love to see Ryder on the show!
Otherwise, here is what is going on in our fan universe:
WOW. That "Expedition Unknown" episode was something last night. We saw Josh revisit old stomping grounds (no pun intended) where he had previously made huge Yeti related discovered on "Destination Truth." Speaking of - how crazy was it they did call back shots to our beloved show?! The best part is that there is more of this adventure to come in future episodes!
Speaking of "DT" related throwbacks? Remember Josh's visit to the teahouse in this episode? It's a "frigid teahouse" in Nepal. The same described in the foreword that Josh wrote for the "Fan Guide to Destination Truth." Support this fan site and relive your favorite show by please buying a copy here.
Did you guys see the amazing publicity stunt Travel Channel did for the return of "Expedition Unknown" yesterday?! So cool!
Here is an article talking about what went down in NYC as far as marketing. There is also this fun video that shows Yeti ice sculptures being made and people posing with folks in Yeti outfits. Josh even had some fun with fans on social media who posted a #YetiSelfie
There is a re-runs marathon starting at 7 p.m. EST with the new "Expedition Unknown" episode premiering at 9 p.m. EST (check your time zone schedule here). Just as a reminder - you can also read this site's article about Josh's previous searches for the Yeti and all hominids matching the description here.
On October 5th 2016, we will watch Joshua Gates of "Expedition Unknown" on the Travel Channel once again seek the truth behind the legend of the Yeti (AKA Sasquatch, Bigfoot, Hominid, Yeren, Wildman, etc.)
For fans, this is a big deal. Why? We love the new style of storytelling "Expedition Unknown" holds, we also love the nostalgia of this case touching on Josh's roots. Looking for odd creatures that qualify as "paranormal" but still falling into the "EXU" comfort zone of the "unexplained." It's a BIG deal.
To celebrate the occasion, here is a list of other times Gates and his intrepid crew has sought out this creature so ingrained in many cultures the world over - whose legend lives on without any distinguishable evidence ever having been found:
