I'm so honored that Talenthouse is featuring me as their May '11 film maker. Article's HERE & a portion of my interview is below:
Q: What advice would you offer to someone else starting out in your field? A: My advice would be don’t quit your day job. No, seriously, when you first start out wanting to do something in journalism or film, you are going to have to start out with a lot of either freelance work or low paying gigs. I’m still not making a living off of what I truly want to be doing, but that’s fine because it makes me want it more. I literally get up at 6 in the morning, go to my full time office job from 8 to 5, I go home and work on my never ending list of projects until bed anytime between midnight or 2 a.m.

Some official photos of me by myself & with Dannielle Owens-Reid, official Monster Blogger 2011 for the Monster Ball.
Taken by the wildly talented official Monster Photographer 2011 for the Monster Ball, Tracey B. Wilson! Amanda Rosenblatt, Uniondale NY - The floor beneath you in general admission shakes with the pulse of the speakers and the stomping of feet belonging to eager fans. People standing who have waited anywhere from 6 to 10 in the morning to grab these spots, once disoriented from exhaustion, spring to life.
The lights are off, the screen covering the stage is streaked with a grid of green laser lights, and the first few notes of "Dance in the Dark" wash over the screeching crowd like an ocean of purifying water. Though the concert's upcoming storyline depicts a magical, nonfictional journey to the Monster Ball reminiscent of a Broadway show, this opening number is a sign to the fans that they've finally made it to see the one and only, Lady Gaga. Pardon the all-caps, but I felt it was necessary to convey what I am feeling right now through text haha! Thanks to everyone who voted, to those who spread word about my involvement in this contest, to those who promoted, and shared links, and got thrown into Twitter jail for "spamming" - I appreciate you all and can't tell you how much it means to me. I especially want to thank my family for standing by me in this when they don't quite enjoy Gaga as much as I do (or at all, for that matter) but they stand behind my dreams of doing something relative to media/journalism in my life. I also wanted to express gratitude to the cast/crew of "Destination Truth", a Syfy show I've supported & been "Fan Ambassador" of since 2008, for promoting me on Twitter to their thousands of followers - Josh, Ryder, Rex, Ramy, Dave - you are all wonderful! Also, big thanks to Kris from "Ghost Hunters International" for RTing my voting link and trying to help, even if I gave her the wrong link by accident. Oops! Most importantly, thank you to Virgin Mobile, Talenthouse, Dannielle, Lady Gaga, & WHOEVER took part in administrating this amazing contest and for giving me this opportunity. I am elated to take part in this. PHOTOS & VLOGS are below. VLOGS - HERE is my vlog which served as my entry into the Monster Blogger contest, HERE is my vlog with my initial reaction to the outpouring of support, and HERE is my vlog reacting to being chosen, as well as thanking my supporters :) |
