I don't want to talk about the election. A week ago, definitely, but not now. I'm not going to post some long-winded entry about how I feel & why... I just don't care to right now. I can start off where I left off, right? Kind of?

I don't really want to talk about school or work or the news or anything that I'd normally like to @ least touch base on. There's a lot that I want to say, but the thought of posting an entry that needs to be split into multiple parts isn't the least bit appealing.

I want to talk about Josh Gates.

Why, do you ask, people who don't read my journal? Well, I'll tell you:

Q. Who is Josh Gates?
A. The host of Sci Fi's show "Destination Truth," in which he & his crew travel to far corners of the earth to investigate anything from the elusive (and quite possibly non-existent) yeti, way over in central Asia, to weird monkey owl creatures supposedly living in east-central Africa... to all sorts of other totally weird (and some not) creatures/phenomena that may or may not exist on this crazy little planet of ours.

Q. Why do I care?
A. You probably don't... But here are some interesting facts about him anyway:
He's from Manchester-by-the-Sea, Mass. Massachusetts is one of my faaavorite states. It's wonderful.
He has degrees in drama & archaeology from Tufts University, which is in Boston & is also the alma mater of a band that is really close to my heart... Guster.
He's climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro AND Mt. Aconcagua.
He used his skills as a qualified SCUBA diver to assist in the excavation of Caesarea Maritima in Israel...
HE'S AWESOME.
He is a new crush of mine, what can I say? There are just so many cool things about him. He's tall, he's really funny (and in that dry/sarcastic sort of way that I appreciate), he's smart, he seems to be a really nice guy, & what's totally great about him is that he's cultured & that's something you don't find too much in the states. Also, he's just an adventurer... he does all this crazy & daring stuff... He's just fun to watch.

And I totally have a super huge crush on him. And I don't feel quite as silly about it b/c he's not a big big celebrity... doesn't seem as out of reach. LoL :-)

Hi all, my daughter and I were walking through the mall today, finishing up some christmas shopping and we saw a familiar face. After about 30 seconds of saying to each other that we recognize his face but can't remember where from we figured it out. It's no big deal, just thought it was interesting and people here are probably the only people that would know who I was talking about.

I did a quick wikipedia search and it turns out he was born a few towns away in Manchester-by-the-sea, probably here visiting his parents for the holidays. For some reason when I see someone 'famous' in person I don't immediately recognize them. A couple years ago I was driving through downtown Boston and once again saw a familiar face. Also took me 10 or 15 seconds to figure out who it was, turned out it was Manny Ramirez (former baseball player with the Red Sox.) Even though I watch every Sox game and see his face dozens of times each night, it still took a few to figure it out in my brain. Anyway, no biggy, just thought I would share.
