Hi guys! Been a long time since I have updated this section. When I have time, I'll comb the interwebs for some updated videos and photos of fans meeting Josh, DT cast members and other notable folks you would be interested in hearing about. If you have a great story not included on this fan site, please tweet me at @DTonSYFYfans or leave a comment on this blog entry!

My good friend & fellow DT fan Kristin Gdula has lead a truly inspired life. She's in the midst of writing her life memoirs & dedicated a section of it to Josh. She asked me to share it with you all here:
Ki-li. Kiliman-jaro. Ki-li. Kiliman-jaro. Kiii-li. Kiliman-jaaaro. It was a mantra. It was my pace maker. It was my future. It was my goal. I repeated it over and over again as each foot hit the pavement. Kili. Kilimanjaro. Left. Right. Left. Right. During March of 2011, Josh Gates went down to Florida through the Make-a-Wish organization to meet one of his fans, Sean, who lives with DiGeorge Syndrome. Here is their story, from what Sean's mom wrote to me:
"Sean likes all the people, cultures, food and the fact that Josh and the DT Teams are so funny. He thinks when they look for ghosts is scary and worries about Ryder and Jael being scared. Loves all the places that Josh and the DT Team travel to. His most favorite place was Ireland and loved hunting the Banshee on the live telecast and that is was fun, scary and that he got tired doing that....Sean loves all the crazy driving that goes on and the fact that they always have car trouble. When Josh goes crazy driving that reminds him of his Grandpa and he get's to laughing. Make A Wish was an awesome experience for Sean. Meeting Josh was top of his list and he has been smiling every day since Wednesday and was so happy to talk with Josh about his future career in the Film and T.V. Industry. We all as a family enjoyed our day with Josh." Check out the blog Sean's mom, Patricia, runs about Sean's illness HERE and check out where you can buy a book she wrote about her son HERE. The photo gallery of their meeting with Josh is HERE. I reached out to Josh, as well as Brad and Danny, at Ping Pong Productions and let them know of a fan named Kellie in her 40's whose health is rapidly declining. They let me know they were sending her along an autograph & Kellie just received it today! Here's the email she sent me:
"I don't quite know what to write.I am just a big(literally and figuratively) fan of DT and ALL the crew. Now,I've found somebody whom I hope will become a friend, personal friend, not just cause of the show,Amanda. I am 41,on March 20th,I'll be 42.I have End-Stage Congestive Heart Failure.I first was diagnosed with it,back in December of 1999,at the age of 30.So,I've been 'living' with this disease for 12 years now.It is a very debilitating disease, and I feel like it's a time bomb ticking inside me.I am not qualified for a transplant for several reasons, namely other diseases that the heart failure caused that was not caught in time. I started watching DESTINATION TRUTH from the very first episode. What first caught my eye about it,was that I've always been interested in the actual existence of Bigfoot, loch ness monster, and other such mythical creatures. Living in Louisiana didn't hurt the situation either, what with all the ghosts, swamps, and crazy rednecks, this is a WEIRD state to live in. Anyway,I have LOVED the show, and whenever a crew member would leave,I'd get upset, because they all just seem to meld together. My favorite member???? I can't pick.Truly.I love all of them for different reasons.And...then I come across Amanda.I didn't know her name at the time, just that she was a nice lady.I had posted one time that my dying wish is to go on an adventure with the crew...but like I said,That was mainly just me vocalizing my fantasy.I don't care if i DID die,it would be doing my life's dream. Now I understand why people who get hurt doing things like bungee jumping, parachuting, whitewater rafting, get up and go do it all over again. DT inspires me to keep going, keep trying, to live." HI Amanda! Okay, here is my story. I'm not sure how many words you are looking for or how detailed you want it to be. So i'm just gonna give it all to you and you and can do what you want with it :-) (Rest of story after the break)
Eddie, who made THIS VIDEO, was nice enough to make a video of just Josh interacting with fans outside the "GH Live 2010" setup in Buffalo NY, which came out to longer than 10 minutes. You can see it HERE :)
HERE is an article from WGRZ on fans who waited outside the "GH Live" set meeting Josh, along with quotes from Kris & Amy of "Ghost Hunters"
HERE is the YouTube version video from the link above, in case you are geo-blocked from viewing or it's loading too slow on the home site. HERE is a video from a fan, Eddie from the Buffalo NY area, who went to hang around outside the event with his family, met Josh & others. He wrote me an account of his event, but I'm waiting to post because I think he's going to send photos & perhaps extended footage of meeting Josh. The photos above from WBEN.com show some lucky fans who were waiting outside the "GH Live 2010" set meeting Josh. Also, another fan, Andrew from North Tanawanda NY, got to meet Josh after the event was over. Here's what he wrote to me:
"no i dont have any pictures, and i saw him in the buffalo airport [where] im one of the overnight staff there. it was about 5:20 in the morning he just left the event and was flying out, despite being tired he said he enjoyed himself here in buffalo and signed an a piece of paper for me. i said have a good flight and he said have a good day. I just hope i didnt come off as weird or anything." |
