When Michelle AKA @AdaKahless of Twitter (pictured with one of her drawings, or a "Chibi", above) said she wanted to buy extra copies of "Memoirs of a Monster Hunter" and give them to me to give out to fans who couldn't afford to get the book right now or didn't have access to it (international fans or maybe fans with no bookstores nearby and no credit/ATM card, etc.), I knew I had to give her Fan of the Week for her dedication to the "DT" fandom. She sent them to fellow fan Andrea AKA @perremama to get signed at Josh's book signing Nov 6th, then she will send them to me to send out to some lucky Truthies! Some of the Michelle's story is below:
"I wasn't really a true fan until I joined Twitter on January 1st 2011 and found all sorts of crew members to follow. Amanda was my go-to girl for updates and to this day, Josh is the only one I get text notifications any time he posts to twitter because he's such a twitter hermit. It wasn't until September when I became more active on Twitter and began constructing this strange yet overly amusing clique with some fellow Truthies and somehow we started calling each other Joshketeers.... "DT has helped my mood on so many occassions. Every time I have a really rough day, I pull up Netflix and let the antics ensue...My story isn't so fabulous or heart wrenching. I'm just an ordinary abnormal chick with a book on how to draw chibis and a love for travel that my dismal paycheck can't afford. So for now, I'll keep watching Destination Truth and hope that one day I'll make it out of the U.S. of A."

This story warmed my heart and I had to share it:
I became a fan of the show and Josh after the first show. I loved Ghost Hunters and am a huge fan, so I wanted to watch DT because it seemed like the same kind of show, where people trek out into the jungle, hunting down monsters and the paranormal. I live in IL, and before I had my son, I loved to travel and go on adventures. In fact, about a few months ago, I was planning a trip to Peru. Unfortunately, I was diagnosed with stage 3 ovarian cancer and could not go. Looking back on it now, I still want to go, it'll just be after my medical bills are paid LOL. I got very ill after my first round of chemo and would remain ill during the whole treatment. So much so that the doctors would put me in the hospital for a month because the radiation burned me so bad. My son, Joey, is 10. Knowing how sick I was, he talked my brother into buying me an IPod Touch. Although he took it one step firther and bought me the touch and an IPhone so I could keep in touch with my friends and family while I was in the hospital since my phone was not working at the time. Anyways, my son used all of his savings to get me the touch, and put my stuff on it. He bought all of the seasons of DT up until that time. I swear that Josh was the only thing that got me through chemo and being stuck in the hospital for a month. I haven't met him yet, but I plan to hopefully in the near future. I just want to hug him because even in my darkest hour, where I didn't want to eat because I was throwing up, and I didn't want to go on with the treatment even though I knew that it was for the best, when I was throwing myself a pity party, I merely had to turn on my pod and Josh was there. He was like a beacon in the night, pushing me forward, wanting to go on adventures and living through him. I have also got several people hooked on the show as well, and have people from all over going out to buy his book. That's why I want to be considered the biggest fan of the week! I would like to say thanks and extend the Fan of the Week title to both Jan and Valerie! They both won Comic Con swag, one Josh Gates autograph each, and Valerie won on top of all that a phone call with Josh Gates! The video of the call is below. The money from the auctions will be used by me to pay my Comic Con bills & to fund DT Fan Radio, but I did donate a portion to Sanctuary for Kids, a charity run by Amanda Tapping of the Syfy show "Sanctuary" :) Thanks again, auction winners! I would like to extend the Fan of the Week title to all those who took the time to travel to and attend the "Destination Truth" fan meet up on July 23rd at Comic Con San Diego (was off-site at the Hard Rock Hotel entrance nearest the PinkBerry). While everyone had a unique story and challenge to get to the meet, I want to give special recognition to Amy from Minnesota. She not only was fully costumed in the heat/sun, but she brought with her a Josh Gates plush doll a friend made for her and the quality of it was amazing! Josh was so impressed with it he tweeted it HERE & executive producer Brad even offered her cash for it!
"As an avid fan of Syfy shows, when I first saw the previews for Destination Truth I couldn’t wait to see what the show was about. I love the personality that Josh Gates brings to the show with his quick witticism and playful banter with other cast members. I love the idea of investigating the unknown and unseen things that explore the earth with us everyday. Destination Truth is one of my favorite shows on television and thankfully through twitter I have met Amanda and many other DT fans that makes it even more fun. I look forward to the next season in 2012, and can’t wait to see what type of transportation Josh and the crew will use to get them to the investigations to unlock its secrets!" I tried to add Melissa's photo of her personal autograph from Ryder, but Weebly is being stupid and won't let me upload photos. Sorry, Melissa! :(
Andrea, a mother of 4 and dedicated "DT" fan, gets the Fan of the Week honor this time around. She's always promoting "DT" on Twitter and she even won a coveted "DT" Antactica Expedition patch in a Twitter contest Josh held during the Season 4.5 finale. She is hoping to make it to the San Diego Comic Con "DT" fan meet up with the cast this year :)
This is a long overdue Fan of the Week distinction for Annaka. She's always taken place in "DT" Fan videos, submitting photos of herself and doing "DT"-centric art projects on the side, including the awesome "DT" Live St. Patty's Day purse she made!
I don't know why I didn't make him fan of the week earlier, but Kent totally deserves it. Not only did he write a book based on "Destination Truth" and Josh Gates ("Primal Thirst" on Amazon), but I also got him to talk to Josh & Brad on my radio show (video w/ HERE ), he's interviewed Ryder for his blog HERE & the cast/crew of "DT" Live made him out the autograph above :)
Wanted to dedicate a Fan of the Week post to my good friend Stacy B., who I've hung with quite a few times here in New England, but I also by extension wanted to extend it as a "thank you" to any DT fans who have or still are serving in the military today. Thanks for all you do and I'm sure my fellow fans, as well as the cast/crew of DT and Syfy, would agree :)
